Peter Salovey & John Mayer & Emotional Intelligence
The theory of social intelligence argued that there is distinction between academic and social intelligence, both of which provide strong determination for success in life and the workplace. Peter Salovey and John Mayer defined a critical part of social intelligence called emotional intelligence. Our emotional intelligence allows us to perceive, express, understand, and regulate our emotions, as well as sympathetically helping others with their emotions. The capacity for empathy and ability to control one's own emotions lead to more successful marriages, careers, and parenting endeavors.
